Pricilla has selfless love for Elvis ..I can't understand why other people blamed her for leaving him that made him dig himself deeper into drugs but they did not consider how difficult for pricilla on her young age having a child and left alone in the house .. Elvis did not care how his young wife with a child living a difficult life without him helping her to recuperate..I can emphatize with Pricilla after giving birth to our first child I experienced post natal depression even my husband was with me but when he went home late I felt so sad which I can not help not to get depressed and I tried hard not to feel it ..I just able to overcome it after I started to work again..but pricilla was not allowed to work she just took care of her baby alone and just waited for Elvis when to go home and when he was at home there were a lot of people around him that they can not have privacy.

@Zak Bauman Yes, Sorry of you to recommend that someone read this book of Susanne Finstad's. On the other hand maybe it's great you did so folks can see how biased she is towards Priscilla. You can tell by reading the first chapter she has it in for Priscilla. Not only that, the book is full of deception and false narratives and lies about Priscilla. Funny, she interviews a bunch of people that can't stand Priscilla and of course contributes a bunch of garbage when it comes to Priscilla. Yes, I bought bought the book "Child Bride" by Suzanne Finstad. Got to the first chapter and couldn't help thinking she's a Priscilla hater full of envy and deep rooted jealousy. I could careless if Suzanne is a well known author or not,, but my girl is spreading a bunch of nasty negative chatter about Priscilla. She really should be ashamed of herself. Suzanne quotes Curry Grant, the friend of Elvis' that introduced Priscilla to Elvis, stating he slept with Priscilla before Elvis. Further stating that was one of the conditions for him to introduce Priscilla to Elvis. What a liar! Suzanne had the nerve to write that in her book like it was a fact. Nope, Priscilla sued Curry Grant for claiming this lie and got paid. Good for you Priscilla, don't take that BS! Yes, I can believe this woman wrote a book like this because it's all about the money and trash sells big time! Only thing, Suzanne could have put a tiny bit of truth in this book about Priscilla. I tried my best to read the whole book, but I got half way through it and tossed it to the side.

@Kaylee Tyler I wasent twisting facts I was making the point where ok however you defined “estranged” is relative! Yes I understand she called and spoke to him as much as she could but they went weeks without contact at times because he was so far gone at that point mental health wise beyond the physical stuff that Elvis and Priscilla had been completely divorced and had there own lives and other partners and were responsibly co-parenting in the most common sense! It’s proven it’s documented from multiple sources in their Circle… so my point is no matter what hardcore romantic Elvis & Priscilla devotes want to believe, NO they were not still having some great love affair and still seeing eachother all the time!! Sorry to burst all your romantic bubbles! 🤷
Kaylee Tyler
Kaylee Tyler - 2 bulan yang lalu
@frsothman no they were NOT estranged. Shirley Dieu (ex of Jo Esposito) saw how he wanted her back right before her eyes. Red West wrote he has never seen such chemistry between them after divorce either. He truly loved only two women - Gladys and Cilla. his cook Mery Jenkins said the same. He was with Elvis when he tried to woo Cilla back including showing some planes and properties he bought. Jo Esposito, Jerry Schilling, why Ginger wrote in her book how insecure she was seeing Elvis on the phone all the time confiding in his ex wife. somethings wrong with you for twisting facts

She is so classy, and presents herself (and Elvis) in such a beautiful way. You can tell she does NOT play around about anyone trying to misconstrue Elvis' name; this video literally brought tears to my eyes. Despite any personal things that they went through, you can just tell how much she respects him and his image, and you can feel the love she had for him through any interview you could ever find of her. I already know he has to be looking down at her now knowing he picked such a good woman. I truly hope she knows how much that not only he, but all of the people that love him, love her.

This woman for goodness's sake walked out on him, Bagged Elvis out to all her boyfriends, and later on in her book as well . She went on to have a second child with some dude ., it goes on and on man with Priscilla , but she would like the whole world to believe that while she is sleeping with every Tom Dick and Harry that came along she is really loving and respecting Elvis. @My Biz Sadly, Mrs Reeves did pass away. I read that she died of lung cancer and didn't even smoke. Apparently she was exposed to secondhand smoke all her life by being a singer and growing up performing in places with smokers. Second hand smoke, is no joke. TheMsLady4Real - 3 bulan yang lalu
Yes his legacy lives on, but I rarely see where Pricilla acknowledges his legacy stemmed from him getting his inspiration from African American music! Yes she is finally saying this 40 to 50 years later and of course after all those checks have been deposited to the banks! Elvis was just another modern day master of a plantation at his time, he just didn't beat his slaves he just stole their music, style , mannerism, etc. Yes, he bought his black made a house, but that was after she had given all of her youth too him! I'm not saying the man raped , but I will say he pillage and plundered the black musicians who sand soul, jazz, blues and yes even country music! Pricilla pretends he had good black friends, but their are no stories of said black friends visiting Elvis at his house or eating and sleeping at his house. If she had that she would've have produced it now to debunk the stories about him! I'm not saying he was a racist, but he was definately a cultural appropriator. Show me a tape where Elvis performed music for black and white people together. But my grandparents saw him when he was in juke joints and always trying to assimilate with black people , then days later he was on the rode singing original songs they wrote and singing like that was his own music etc. Elvis today would be a moder day Tom Jones or Vanilla Ice!

I don't see how you know Elvis cheated on Priscilla if she didn't know it. first of all she met Elvis a that age. She went to his house when almost 18th. Has been her to stalk Elvis to call her parent for let her go to Graceland, then nobody forced her to stay there she could back to her family!!! It's time to stop once and for all to pity her: "poor she was so young!" She (supported by her parents), did it because she had a goal, and follow it until she obtained what she wanted, so she is to blame as much as Elvis. That's all!!

I think the reason for that is the tension between Elvis's die hard fans and her. They believe this woman is Satan. I think she just takes the high road and never takes the bait. The woman was number 2 on Forbes smartest business women list because of Elvis Presley Enterprises yet she never speaks about that and I think it's because she knows she will leave herself open to be hit with things like living off of his talent. That talent did Elvis zero favors in the last ten years of his life and was regarded as an overweight singer who was painfully unaware that he lost what made him Elvis Presley and only toured to fund his love for quaaludes, young girls and bacon banana and peanut butter sandwiches. Just once I would love to see her say "You are correct that I take 15 percent but your lucky I don't take 70 after the way he treated me and if you keep this up I'm calling Lisa and telling her to lock the doors in Graceland. For good. I gave her 15 percent too so she will listen to me".

@Sergeant Masson you are completely wrong! She wanted it! Plus she, after all she had already received from Elvis and for the "great sacrifice" of being his wife, sued him for more money! What a great love she felt for him !!! That's why he was forced to sell the rights to his songs, also pushed by that bastard Parker who, always on Priscilla's side, saw for himself too an opportunity: thanks to the agreement of Elvis' 50% earnings division, to have the money to pay off his gambling debts. At the end of the deal, for tax reasons, that Elvis paid a higher percentage than Parker, and after giving what was requested to the "sweet" Priscilla, he was the one who got the least amount of money! Poor Elvis, always too generous, heedless of money, and against arguments, gave the victory to these two leeches ...

@Ers Elley in fact, to your point, how many celebrities who have passed away and had difficult endings have ended up falling into obscurity? Priscilla Presley did not have to keep his memory alive. She did divorce him; she could have taken the money and said nothing. But instead she keeps his memory alive and brings understanding to a difficult life, that he felt very trapped in.

It amazes me that she doesn't get so much more credit for that fact. Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company she founded, is worth 600 million dollars and Elvis is still one of the highest paid celebrities annually because of that. It was her idea to open Graceland to the public and her daughter gets every cent it brings in. In fact his daughter lives off the 15 percent ownership of Elvis Presley Enterprises versus her trust because pricillia was smart enough to leave 30 percent for herself and her daughter. She was the one who sued his manager and ended up buying him out before she started bringing the money in and that case helped pass a law where entertainers can't be taken advantage of by their managers. Smart woman. However I could be biased because I grew up watching her on Dallas so....

@Ers Elley I read the book the week it came out. LOVED THE BOOK. Yes, she recanted much of the "fooling around". She WANTED to do these things NOT ELVIS. She took certain liberties to sell books, that's what I feel. I have a LOT of respect for her and Elvis though, SHE LOVES HIM TO THIS DAY. She's a smart lady, I think if he did those things she would not be so willing to admit that they were CLOSER FRIENDS AFTER THEIR MARRIAGE BROKE OFF. THEY WERE BOTH YOUNG and never lived normal lives. Priscilla says she feels MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE and able to discuss and explain her relationship now. I think had Elvis been alive we would ALL have the FULL REAL story of what happened and I think they'd have gotten remarried.

@depper really? I got that from her book though. Maybe you should reach out to her to let her know they didn't start dating until she was 18. She could just have been confused. She is older now a days. Also if your going to be boasting about their sex life I HIGHLY encourage you to read her book she where she goes into great detail about his sexual hangups and he had quite a few. Including the one that stopped them from having sex until they were married. I'm not going to spoil it for you though and just remember this conversation when you get to it. Something that just fascinates me about that book is Elvis's die hard fans took every negative thing she said about herself as the complete truth but every negative thing she said about Elvis was a lie. You can't have that both ways. I'm not talking about you because you didn't read it and you didn't read it. I wish I could understand why exactly his fans think she is Satan in the flesh.

Answer to Erse Elley: I was alive back then and Elvis was not a laughing stock before he died. He was fat and bloated, and sick, but his tours were not being televised then and there was no internet. The general public did not even know. The magazines were not following it. When it finally was noticed, it was more like "what is wrong with Elvis" , not derision or laughter. The derision and laughter did not start until he died. The thing about the public thinking he was touring for qualudes and young girls was totally made up by YOU. That never happened. He did not go from buffoon to one of the "most respected performers on the planet" because he died. Every performer dies. He is respected because he was the greatest performers like Micheal Jackson and the Beatles, who will also never be forgotten They do not just "get big" because they die. They stay big after they die on their merits as performers. Priscilla did not found Elvis Presley Enterprises, it was founded by Elvis and Col Parker way back in 1958. Yes, I do know what Col Parker's rate was, but Elvis AGREED to that, it was in their contract! Granted it was a bad deal for Elvis but he did agree to it, unlike all the money Priscilla took from him. Priscilla should not be getting 15% after all the horrible things she did to Elvis when he was alive! She should not be allowed to make any money off him at all!! I have no complaints about the WAY Priscilla handles Graceland. My complaint is that she is allowed to handle it at all. She should never have been allowed to put her who*ing hands on anything concerning Elvis, ever again! I could not care less what happened to Graceland. Elvis isnt there and he is not gaining anything by her making millions off him or off Graceland. When the first degrading and libelous stories came out about Elvis after he died, Priscilla made a public statement that she would NEVER sue for Elvis no matter what anyone said or wrote about him!!!! Many much worse and more libelous things than an banana sandwich have been said about EVERYTHING about Elvis, including his death. Priscilla has NEVER sued or threatened to sue even ONE of them, in fact she threw Elvis to the dogs! All the smutmongers know they can say anything they want to about Elvis and they will never get sued! That is one of the main reasons I hate Priscilla! She has let anyone say ANYTHING about Elvis!!! Most of the filthy things said about Elvis now can be blamed on Priscilla because she has said she would NEVER sue! They all know they can say anything! Even Albert Goldman, after writing his filthy, degrading hit piece on Elvis declared that Priscilla said that she would never sue! Priscilla did not have the autopsy sealed, Vernon did that, and it had nothing to do with any sandwich. Yes, she sued anyone who sold anything with Elvis' image on it, but it had nothing to do with respect for Elvis. It guarantees that the estate gets money from it, since when he was alive, Elvis let anyone sell any merchandise they wanted to. Plenty of derisive "Elvis frogs" , Elvis bobbleheads" , "fat Elvis's, and such have been sold with the Estates approval. All they care about is their share of the bucks, not anything else. It is OBVIOUS you don't like Elvis, and dont know sh-t about anything Priscilla has done. You made up most of your posts. And no, I would not have a different attitude about Lisa. I don't like her for the same reason I don't like Priscilla. She would never sue for libel or slander for Elvis.

@Ers Elley Elly you put up two posts to me that I wanted to answer. I answered one, but apparently you took the other one down so I am posting it again so that I can answer it: Ers Elley Saphire Blue okay....I'm going to say something that Elvis fans do not like to talk about and I apologize in advance. The 70s did happen. Unfortunately. Very unfortunately for Elvis. This man who is probably one of the most talented musicians ever to live was the butt of every joke back then. He was regarded as an overweight singer who was painfully unaware that he had lost what made him Elvis Presley and toured constantly to fund his love for quaaludes, young girls and most importantly his love for bacon banana and peanut butter sandwiches. His career was in shambles back then. What changed? How did he go from that bafoon to one of the most respected musicians to grace the earth? He had the same music then that he does now so what changed? He died. That's what changed and he was no longer able to manage his career. Luckily for his legacy he had married a "money grubbing bimbo" who could. She immediately sued his manager and was successful in buying him out before she founded Elvis Presley Enterprises. Do you know what his rate was? 50 percent! Yet I see no one calling him names ever but Priscillia and her 15 is always talked about. This damn Graceland shit you guys constantly throw in her face floors me. She lets you guys come visit and pay your respects. The man is buried there so you guys can visit his grave. She spent serious money repairing the damage and left it exactly like Elvis did but that's not good enough for you? She never had gotten a single cent from Graceland and that money goes to their daughter. Would you rather she sold it to the highest bidder? Should she have had it demolished and built her own house? Are you mad she charges money? If so that's a conversation to have with her daughter and not Priscillia but I don't think you'd use quite the same language you did regarding her mother. When is the last time you heard a story about Elvis dying on the crapper with a half eaten bacon banana and peanut butter sandwich in his hand? Twenty years? That's because Priscilla sent cease and desist letters to every publication that ran that story and sued one magazine who ignored the cease and desist and said that's the reason she won't release his autopsy to conceal the fact he was holding the damn sandwich. She didn't have to do that. She could have let that money roll in and laugh her ass off at the mental picture of that taking place. His fans are loyal regardless so she had no financial gain from protecting his image. The woman sues anyone who sells any type of merchandise with a fat Elvis on it. Skinny Elvis only. To protect his legacy. I don't even like Elvis for crying out loud and I hold deep resentment over Priscilla's character replacing my favorite character on Dallas but I just can't stand when I see his fans, usually women, tearing her apart when in reality she helped you. If it wasn't for her you'd be ridiculed constantly about that damn sandwich. If Elvis rose from the dead today he would walk around the corner into his home and see it's exactly the same then he'd check his bank account and die from another heart attack when he saw Elvis Presley Enterprises is worth 600 million dollars and he would thank Priscilla for the work she did. Maybe that's why you women hate her so much. Also....we all know the man died from an overdose but I can't throw that in your face because Priscilla sealed the autopsy report so I had to go with the cause of death his family paid for on his death certificate. She sealed it for this exact reason you know. So I couldn't use it as a way to insult him or his friends. I would tell you to think her but I don't want her to look you up and see your post because there is a good chance she'd sue your as

@Ers Elley Yes, I did get all this information about her from her book. Something wrong with that? I only say negative things about her IF I got it from her own mouth or pen. I do not believe in passing on negative second hand information about someone. People can say anything about anyone. There is only one other place that I took what I considered to be negative information about her from someone else and that is when I quoted Mike Stone when he said that he and Priscilla had had a secret apartment together for a long time while she was married to Elvis. It may or may not be true, but I believe it, and that is just my OPINION. The only other times I have said anything bad about her that did not come from her own mouth or pen was my often stated OPINION that when she married Elvis she already intended to divorce him, get the "movie star" settlement, and go into show business herself, but I have said a million times, that is just my OPINION based on her actions. If you really did read the book you would know that she did not say that he assaulted her, she said "he took me roughly". At no time did she say that she had said no to him, told him to stop, etc. And he didn't do it when he found out about the affair. She didn't even tell him about the affair. The next morning, according to the book she told him she was leaving the marriage. He didn't even know about the affair until she was already moved out of Graceland. And I never said I didn't believe it. Where did you get the idea that I didn't believe it? Lisa Marie does own Graceland but Priscilla paid herself $500,000 dollars a year for being executor of the estate. I dont know if she's still getting it but I believe that she does. You do not have to hide my "handle" on Twitter. The more people who read my comments the better I like it. I don't do all this typing just so no one will read it. As far as her suing me, she does not care what all us little bugs think of her. She has made herself rich and famous off Elvis. Why should she care what we think? Anyway there is nothing she could sue me for, since all my information comes from HER.
Ers Elley

@Isla listen...don't listen to that woman and I'm sorry she insulted you. I appreciated seeing you fighting for the truth versus a side. In her book she was very honest about her faults and that person cherry picked every negative thing she said about herself but left out everything about Elvis. You did it in a classy way and that's rare to see in a ID-card comment section. ♥️♥️♥️
Ers Elley
Ers Elley - 4 bulan yang lalu
@Saphire Blue wow.... really??? Where did you get all this information? I remember hearing it somewhere but it's almost like some parts are missing? Wait....I know. You read her book! She talks about all of these things in detail. So you believe the bad things she says about herself but not the bad things she says about Elvis? Is that why you left out the part about when Elvis found out about the affair he sexually assaulted her to show her how a real man makes love to a woman? Did it happen? Maybe. Maybe not. That's not my point. My point is you took the first part of her story and believed it was true because it was negative about her but not the rest because it was negative about Elvis. Unfortunately that makes you biased and I can't trust your statements. Also if your going to bring up Graceland I feel compelled to tell you Lisa Marie owns Graceland and has since she was 25 and receives every cent it brings in and every cent it has ever been brought in. Went right into her trust. So you may want to pump the brakes on Priscilla and Graceland because it makes you look unreliable and you put that with the fact your biased then no one will believe your compelling statements. I mean someone is going to read it, laugh and throw it on Twitter so the sooner you delete that the better. Yeah...I put it on Twitter BUT I did black your name out first so your welcome. I didn't want your friends and family to call you and be like "Girl....I saw you on Twitter. How many times do we have to tell you Lisa owns Graceland? Millions? I believed those things you told me then I find out you found them from her book? In the chapter where she discusses being sexually assaulted? I told my co workers! Now I look like an asshat! Elvis died 70 years ago. Let it go! If you ever mention the name Priscilla Presley to me ever again I'm going to spontaneously combust into flames brighter than the bronzer Elvis used! He's dead! Get over it!." So I thought it was best to leave your ID-card handle off. Your welcome One more thing. I realized you mentioned the book in your comment!!!! Your killing me tonight. I knew you read it because she talks about that very affair and you said you found it in her book! You were right. You just forgot to mention Elvis sexually assaulted when he found out which is why she told the story in the first place. You took her out of context. Girl...she may sue your ass. I mean did you skip the chapter about Graceland because that would have saved you some embarrassment if you had read it.

@Reita Presley I don't know if Lisa Marie Presley really doesn't have her $1.5 billion net worth anymore. Or if she's just saying it because of her ex-husband. yes, Elvis sold his music rights back then because he wanted to pay off Priscilla. Elvis said to his lawyer at the time that he agreed with everything that Priscilla wanted. maybe that was a mistake by Elvis. Elvis was 100% okay with that because he still loved Priscilla.

No ma’m, she did it FOR the money. Nearly FIFTY YEARS AFTER HIS DEATH, Elvis’s money has supported EVERY boyfriend, every husband and every child Pricilla EVER had, AFTER HIM, it is Elvis’s money that has SUPPORTED every husband, every boyfriend, every child and EVEN every EXTENDED family member connected to Lisa Marie. The ONLY grandchild who resembled Elvis, was her late son. He was the spitting image of The King. Elvis died five yrs after Pricilla left him and two days after the 20th Anniversary of his mother’s death. She left him for his judo instructor, Mike Wood. I guess EVERYONE has forgotten this. Except for his hard-core Elvis fans. One last thing, EXACTLY why do you think she kept the PRESLEY name ?? Elvis was raised his daughter…..himself and she was with him till the day he Passed. Why do you think Pricilla and Lisa Marie have OBVIOUSLY never gotten along ??? LONG LIVE OUR KING !!!!

They might not have been able to work out as a couple, but she was always meant to be part of his story. Why do people want to villainize a woman who got lucky and blessed in an unconventional life simply by speculation and a lot of here say? She was chosen by Elvis.

@jaylaaa nicoleee . Ridiculous! Elvis was very immature when they married. Priscilla and he were in a special relationship through her teen years. Priscilla was more mature than he was probably from being a military brat,we'll traveled and wiser than her years. They were a young couple in love living in a different time. Unusual circumstances but her family approved and his family also lived at Graceland.

For all its worth.. Priscilla was a child bride growing up in another era where marrying young was not abnormal. She spent part of her teen years living with Elvis and his family and became part of the Presley family before officially marrying him. A lot of her growing up was mentored by the Presleys. Also Elvis who was directing her life to a large degree. It's understanding that his lifestyle became hers living in his household. He was no saint as some prefer to see him. He was simply still sowing his oats and having his cake and eating it too. Priscilla was his love but he was on the merry go round of celebrity much of the time. Graceland was THEIR home. Yes, Priscilla's home too. It's perfect lyrics logical that she was attached to the memories and life they lived on the grounds of Graceland. She has Lisa, the child they both dearly loved while the happy times lasted. Priscilla was young, but controlled by Elvis. Totally understandable that she felt like a bird in a gilded cage. Graceland was and always will be HOME they all shared. Vernon, Granny, and all the Presley Clan called Graceland home. Elvis 'home. He shared his home and success with his close family.

@Ariel Danielle What difference does it make at this point? What is the definition of grooming.? Elvis is no longer living. Priscilla became his fiancee, then his wife. It's a far cry from abducting young teenagers and turning them out into today's world of perversion, prostitution and endangering them with no thought of their welfare. The Presley and the Beaulieu families were not wearing blindfolds. They reached agreement for the living arrangements of Priscilla at Elvis^ home. She was loved and respected and did not want for education or food or shelter. Beyond the age difference, what was the great sin of what occurred? Priscilla's parents agreed to her living among adult family members who lived there. Elvis was off working much of the time and she was not without supervision. Get your 2022 mind into the sentiment of years when life was lived by a different set of values. Priscilla chose to love. Elvis chose her to love. May/December love is not unique. If any thresholds were crossed, it was when she became Mrs. ELVIS Presley.

I legitimately can't tell if this comment is trying to condemn or justify a grown man grooming a young teenager.

My dad was the same way. My dad was an alcoholic and lost his life to his addiction. My dad thought he was fine even though he would be falling over drunk. I finally had to make the decision to leave his side because I was 7 months pregnant and had to choose the life of my daughter and I knew my attempts to help him was going on deaf ears.

Elvis Presley
I remember August 16, 1977.
Forever engraved in my mind, in my soul.
I received one of the worst, physically shaking, ass beatings of my pre-teen life.
I was walking through the boys room at the back of the house, passing by the television set.
It was at eye level.
As I glance at it on my right, in passing, a royal blue screen with white letters flashes on, just cuts in.
I had to read it twice and then a panicked reality set in.
I knew my dad and brother were just outside working on the family station wagon, a powder blue, Ford Country Squire.
I ran out the back door, yelling loudly that “Elvis Presley died!”.
I stood just beyond the back porch, screaming until I heard tools clanging and then feet scrambling towards me.
I hurriedly moved back indoors and waited by the television set.
I heard feet stomping in full gallop, headed toward the rear entrance of the house.
The door swung open and both my dad and oldest brother rushed in and stood next to me, huffing and puffing, breathing very heavily as we all gazed at the television.
We waited what seemed an eternity and no breaking news report came on.
No mention of Elvis’ passing.
It was then that I was taken by surprise.
My dad somehow whirled me around and had grabbed my left upper arm with his left hand and was behind me as he delivered a full handed, bone shattering, neck cracking spanking.
He was a 6 foot, physically fit man.
I was 12 years old.
Through the whole soul shattering ordeal, I heard him furiously yell at me never to lie again.
I remember crying and yelping like an injured puppy as it was happening.
I didn’t understand what had just occurred.
When I felt free of his grasp, I ran in desperation and wound up in the bathroom.
I locked the door.
Crying and screaming, I slumped to the ground and hugged my knees not knowing what to do.
Eventually, I heard my mom begging me to come out.
All I could say between injured feelings and streaming tears was a loud, angry NO!
I don’t know how much time passed before I heard my dad’s sheepish, low, guilty voice saying he was sorry as he also lightly knocked on the door.
Please unlock the door.
The answer remained an emphatic, definite, NO!
I was not unlocking the door.
Still on the floor, I hugged my knees tighter and eventually fell asleep.
I woke up in my bed later that evening, no idea how they retrieved me.
I must have passed out in disbelief and dismay.
I don’t recall having dinner or anything.
Time passed and all eventually was forgiven.
My dad was a good, hardworking man.
To this day I remember the very moment that the King of Rock n Roll died because my dad was one of his biggest, admiring fans.
If an Elvis movie or show rerun was on the tube, we all certainly were watching.
Elvis was a big presence in our household, as was everything Disney.
In his youth, my father had aspirations of being an entertainer.
He sang and played guitar in a quartet in his latter teens and early twenties.
He played both the guitar and piano by ear.
He usually played the guitar in the evenings and weekends and could be heard singing something.
I only learned and realized the extent of my dad’s admiration and fanaticism for Elvis Presley after revisiting my literal, butt hurt, childhood incident as an adult.
I understood why we watched every Elvis movie and show when they aired on tv.
It was a family night around the big, console TV set in the living room, popcorn and the whole shebanger, just like the annual airing of The Wizard of Oz, a special occasion.
I miss family life.
I miss my dad and my mom, everyday!
And to this day, Elvis still is The King of Rock n Roll, never to be forgotten by my heart and soul, and my butt!

@Speak It Loud VERY UNFORTUNATELY, Anger (In my personal opinion. has became - way too much "glorified". Sure, one should 'stand up for their beliefs'....however I was raised believing : ANGER IS UGLY.... AND to exercise self-control. YOU NEVER (at least I don't) hear : "Aren't you ashamed?!" anymore. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm positive your Dad hated himself enough for what he did. We all know (or should) that if we just take a moment, a deep breath, and are not consumed with our own hurt, we wouldn't over-react. And I'm sure he lived with that, and never forgot. You forgave him. And THAT is not only maturity, and what really matters.

Woa - that is something that a part of you cannot forgive. I’m sorry that happened to you, truly. A fathers admiration for a celebrity should never ever be manifested in beating his child. I hope you know that, the most.

Wow! You brought us there to that moment in time. There is NO doubt the impact Elvis had on everyday people during those years and ever since. Proof is the many many Elvis Impersonators to come onto the scene after 1977 in tribute to the image he portrayed. Like your daddy, the people just couldn't conceive letting Elvis go. It was too deep what he represented and he was a type folk hero. Poor Mississippi boy ,humble, handsome, and a huge heart for God, family, and country with a voice that was unmatched. That even men loved and admired him not only screaming women was a phenomena.. Yes, many musicians held aspirations to be like Elvis. I personally knew few who were over the top in wanting to try on his Blue Suede Shoes style and mimic that lip action for effect. The great beauty of Elvis was his genuineness of being a man who always remembered his humble roots and his great compassion for others less fortunate. Sometimes it seems he was walking through a dream, not expecting it to last and he'd wake up back in a little shotgun shack his daddy built (with love) in Tupelo., Elvis was a hard worker. Just look at all the tours and places he played in his short career. He was no lazy man. A few lifetimes were crammed into less time than most have in living longer years. And he took so many into his success. Always giving and providing for others by acts of kindness. That is what made a father snap at the thought of losing the connection to someone he had up on his pedestal. Having driven through Memphis in the early morning hours on the day Elvis left the building and hearing the announcement come across the car radio, it hadn't truly sink in until arriving in Mississippi a few hours down the road. The scene of women in the household bawling uncontrollably remains in my mind. I was not an Elvis fan per se. My older sisters a few years ahead, were crying like a death in the family had happened. More so. This scene lives in my memory. Heartbroken. But genuinely heartbroken as was witnessed short hours later as crowds flocked to Memphis in disbelief. I remember thinking not one President of the United States ever had such emotional grief by do many, and here was this Southern guy from dirt poor Mississippi .... incredible.

I went to one of Elvis's last shows in Savannah Georgia. He killed it that night. NO ONE cared about his excess weight. His voice was just stunning to hear. A Movie is coming out or already out about Elvis's life. Elvis was struggling finically he was not broke. He was worth 5 Million at his death. But Colonel Tom Parker a lot of Elvis's money. Elvis Estate today makes $20 million a year.

Wow what a beautiful charming person she is. Very generous of her to volunteer her memories. I had not appreciated Elvis any where near as I do. Even to the point that when he was alive and I being a teenager thought of him so uncool and silly. But he was actually such a talented fantastic guy; loved, taken advantage of, and extremely loved by his fans. I knew some co workers who went to his concerts who talked about how generous he was- taking off his rings and giving them to people. So tragic his life in a lot of ways.
